Background
In patients with myocardial infarction, especially anterior wall, the risk of embolic events due to left ventricular thrombus is high. In some cases oral anticoagulant treatment should be recommended. We showed that oral anticoagulant treatment must be continued for many years in same patient with myocardial infarction, especially with aneurysm.
Material and methods
We presented a case of 54-year-old woman with hypertension, hyperlipidaemia and antithrombin deficiency who suffered from myocardial infarction and then for many years painless course of angina pectoris. The patient after 12 years and 15 years from myocardial infarction had thromboembolic accident involving the central nervous system and mesenteric arteries, respectively.
Results
We found thrombus in mesenteric arteries and in two-dimensional echocardiography examination left ventricular aneurysm.
