Summary
Nowadays, there are fewer indications for hormone replacement therapy (HTZ), as consequences of results from the large interventional trial. On the ground on such results HTZ are not recommended in primary and secondary prevention of coronary heart disease. Moreover HTZ can increase incidence of cerebral insults and breast cancers. On the other hand, in many clinical and experimental investigations was found out that such therapy may be beneficial by its influence on atherosclerosis risk factor, especially on coagulant and fibrinolytic proteins, and inflammatory markers. HTZ can not only reduce level of these factors but also improve endothelial function and for that reason may be used in fight with atherosclerosis. In our work we presented also contemporary
indications for using hormone replacement therapy in postmenopausal women.
