3/2007Prevalence of individual risk factors of ischaemic heart disease amongst patients of the Invasive Cardiology Department in Kędzierzyn-Koźle

Background
Ischaemic heart disease is a main cause of mortality in the world. Modifiable factors are bound with lifestyle (obesity, nicotinism, limited physical activity, stress, alcohol abuse, atherogenic diet). Risk factors also include arterial hypertension and lipids concentration.
Material and methods
The examination was carried out in February and March 2007. The group of 50 Invasive Cardiology Department in Kędzierzyn-Koźle patients (25 women and 25 men) who were suspected or diagnosed with ischaemic heart disease were included in the study.
Results
The most frequent risk factor of ischaemic heart disease in the examined population was atherogenic diet (62%) and the following: arterial hypertension (58%), elevated level of cholesterol (50%), smoking (46%), excess weight (46%), obesity (32%), limited physical activity (40%).
