3/2007The level of obligatory notification of diarrhoea in children up to 2 on Lower Silesia in 2001–2005

Background
Background. In accordance with the Act of Infectious Diseases and Infections every doctor in Poland is obliged to notify up to 24 hours a case of diarrhoea in children up to 2 to the Consultant in Communicable Disease Control accordingly to the region of infection.

Material and methods
We carried on an analysis of notification of infectious gastroenteritis incidence (A04, A08, A09) to the Consultant in Communicable Disease Control in Wrocław. The notifications in 2001–2005 were analyzed.

Results
The highest notification rate was observed in 2001 in Kamienna Góra (86), Wałbrzych (123), Ząbkowice Śl. (94); in 2002 in Wrocław (133), Wałbrzych (149), Dzierżoniów (86); in 2003 in Wrocław (93), Wałbrzych (201), Świdnica (115); in 2004 in Wrocław (160), Wałbrzych (130), Świdnica (100); in 2005 in Świdnica (82), Wałbrzych (126), Wrocław (194). The lowest notification rate (up to 15 cases per annum) was observed in 2001 in Lubań (5),Bolesławiec (9), Lwówek Śl. (14). In 2002 in Środa Śl. (1), Głogów (3), Wołów (5). In 2003 in Środa Śl. (1), Jawor (7), Głogów (10). In 2004 in Środa Śl. (1), Bolesławiec (7), Głogów (7), Polkowice (13). In 2005 in Środa Śl. (1), Lwówek Śl. (3), Głogów (9), Jawor (6). The lack of notification was in Lubań, Bolesławiec. There was observed an increase in notifications in 2001–2005 in Wrocław, Wałbrzych, Świdnica and the peak of notifications in 2004 and lower notification rate in 2005. There was observed a decrease in notifications in 2001–2005 in Trzebnica, Kłodzko, Ząbkowice Śl. The level of notification was stable in 2001–2005 in Bolesławiec, Środa Śl., Lwówek Śl.
