Summary
In the study general recommendations for usage of intravenous lines and main rules for care of patients with intravenous devices were presented. The guidelines including: the education and improvement of knowledge of health care workers, preparation of patient and insertion site, selection of vein, choice of location and method of insertion, intravenous devices selection and replacement, drug selection, documentation, monitoring for the presence of catheter-related bloodstream infections and tracking of catheter removal.
