Summary
In the present study the main causes of incidence for general and local infections associated with lines were discussed. The clinical manifestations, pathomechanism, risk factors and main etiologic agents of intravenous catheters infections and also epidemiology and prevention were presented. Additionally the study showed current recommendations for usage of equipment for intravenous therapy and guidelines for nursing care of patients who have intravenous catheters lines.
